Is that a paintbrush in your pocket or are you just happy to see me? Oh, wait... it is a paintbrush? Cool. Then let's fucking make something!
If you're in the Atlanta area and you're desperately in need of a creative recharge, I want to play with you. Stop reading the books about the creative process. Stop watching TED Talks from artists you love. Those books, blogs and videos all have a place. I love them. But get off your ass and come hang out with me. Bring your supplies, I'll bring mine and let's see what happens. Maybe we'll make a cardboard fort. Maybe we'll make a stop-motion music video. Maybe we'll invent a board game. Paint a mural. Take some photos. Can you play an instrument? I can't. Let's write a song anyway. I just wanna makes stuff with you.
The point is not to make something good. The point is to make something. The point is to have fun and play. The point is to do something you wouldn't do by yourself.
- You're an artist of some kind. Painters, writers, videographers, crafters, designers, musicians, ANYTHING.
- You're in the Atlanta area.
- You're willing to look and feel stupid by doing things you're not sure you're good at.
- You're cool with me writing about it.
How it goes down:
You email me. Say Hi. Send me the days you're available, let me know if you have a space availible and some pictures or links to your work or instagram account. This isn't for me to judge you, more for me to brainstorm or add another artist to the mix if it fits. I am not currently on Facebook so don't send me that. If you already have an idea for something you'd like to do or try, tell me that. Got nothing? Don't worry. I've got you covered.
We settle on a date and place, do some warm ups, have a drink (or not), and have fun. By the end of the day, something will exist that didn't before, you will be thinking with brain muscles that have been sitting around getting fat and lazy, you'll have more creative energy than you did when we started, and your pants will probably be ruined.
Nothing we make will be sold. No money will be exchanged. If we need to buy supplies, we'll split the cost. If we make one thing, you can keep it.
If this sounds good to you, email me.
If this sounds terrifying to you, email me immediately.
